Ring in Spring…with Home Maintence Tips!

Man Cleaning Gutters and Installing Gutter GuardsSpring cleaning goes deeper than clearing out the closet! Spring is also a great time to check the exterior of your home and prepare for

Service the Air Conditioning System

Avoid a costly AC Repair! Wentzel’s Heating & Air is happy to inspect and service the AC unit to ensure it is working efficiently. An annual spring  examination of your AC unit and the area around it are an important part of the Annual Home HVAC Maintence Calendar. Many unexpected air conditioning repairs can be avoided by having an air conditioning service agreement because we check your system thoroughly and can often catch little problems before they become big ones!

Examine Roof Tiles

Safely and with supervision, examine your roof tiles for damage they may have suffered during the fall or winter months. Any tiles that are cracked or loose should be replaced.

Clean Your Gutters

Keeping your gutters from overflowing prevents water damage to the fascia, soffit and even the walls where water, mud and sand splash on to your house. This should be done every Spring and Fall at a minimum. Showers and Thunderstorms are coming to Sarasota soon!

Add Compacted Soil

Any low areas in your yard and especially around the foundation should be supplemented with compacted soil to prevent damage during heavy spring rains.

Inspect the Concrete

Inspect the exterior of your homes and concrete walls for cracks or movement. Fill any cracks with filler or silicone caulk. You may want to power-wash and then seal the concrete.

Check Faucets & Hoses

Make sure you don’t have any leaks, and water is flowing properly.

Clean Power Equipment

The lawn mover and weed wacker may have not been used much over the last few months, but they still need to be checked and cleaned before taking them out of the shed. If you are particularly handy you should sharpen your mower blades too.

Probe the Wood Trim

Use a screwdriver to probe the wood around windows and doors to check for structural damage. Spring rains could further any existing damage, so make repairs as needed so your maintain the integrity of your walls and avoid costly mold damage.

Spring maintenance makes spring flowers smell all the sweeter!
