Energy Tip: What’s Near Your Thermostat?

When it comes to air conditioning, the higher your thermostat, the lower your energy consumption will be.

However, even if your thermostat is set to a high temperature, it can waste energy if it gets a false temperature reading. This can happen if your thermostat is near appliances that give off heat.

Make you don’t place a television, lamp, or any other heat-generating appliance near your thermostat.

Also, set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible. The less of the difference between your indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your cooling costs will be.
